Zach Wilson Trade

Jets Trade Zach Wilson to Broncos

Broncos Aim to Build Wilson Up, But Trade Doesn't Change NFL Draft Outlook

April 22, 2024 at 3:12 pm

The New York Jets have officially parted ways with quarterback Zach Wilson, trading him to the Denver Broncos almost exactly three years after selecting him No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Wilson, who struggled to live up to expectations during his time with the Jets, will join a Broncos team that is looking to rebuild its quarterback position. The Broncos have not had a franchise passer since Peyton Manning retired in 2016, and they are hoping that Wilson can be the one to turn things around.

The Jets, meanwhile, will now be in the market for a new quarterback. They could potentially draft a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, or they could look to sign a veteran free agent.

The trade does not change the NFL Draft outlook for either team. The Broncos were already expected to draft a quarterback, and the Jets were expected to be in the mix for one as well. The trade simply gives the Broncos a head start on their quarterback search.
